St. Patrick's Day

Come on now... with a last name like McCann, you didn't think we'd let today pass without posting some good St. Patrick's Day pictures, now did you?! We decided to go down to the Riverwalk today to check out Waxy O'Connors Irish Pub and Eatery, and had a blast! We were all, as we should be, decked out in green and enjoyed some spectacular Irish food, authentic atmosphere, and of course a pint of Guinness. Enjoy the pictures:

Collin's (outstanding) Bangers and Mash

Janelle's (equally good) Corned Beef and Cabbage

We ended our day with a trip to Barnes & Noble in a search for a good book of Irish folklore, and came home with this one. I hope to read some together with Collin tonight, which should make a good ending to our St. Patrick's day celebration.

How FUN! I just love that you're finally in a town (or back to one at least) that truly knows how to celebrate St. Patty's!! Yay! Top o' the mornin' to ya! ;-)

That looks like a blast! We love Irish food! We also got this great folklore book in Ireland for children. It is still a little too scary for Eben right now, but we can't wait to dig into it in a few years.

Collin should give Smithwick's a try if he likes Guinness. I don't really even like beer, but have to admit Smithwick's is pretty tasty stuff (we found it also when we were in Ireland). It's also yummy if you cook a pot roast in it. :)

May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind always be at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Happy to hear you had a great time at the River Walk! We haven't been down there in years! We'll have to brave it one of these days when we're home again.

Erica, thank you for the blessing - it's near and dear to our hearts, as it was printed on our wedding favors 7 years ago. You'll have to tell us all about your Ireland trip, as we're hoping to go for our 10th Anniversary. I'll tell Collin about Smithwick's and thanks for being so sweet!
